Hundrathon 2012 Reaches its Goal – THANK YOU!

What a committed, supportive community we have here at Cornell — thank you for helping to make this year’s Hundrathon a success! Together we had over 250 donors raise $31,583 – wow! And thanks to the donor who gave $500 on the Monday after it ended – this really helped up pass last year’s total!

Your donations mean we now have the resources to support our teachers and students through the programming we all cherish and more. Thank you very much from the Hundrathon Committee and the PTA! Over the next several months, we will update you about how the Hundrathon donations are being spent. And feel free to contact the PTA with any thoughts or suggestions you may have…….we are in this together.

And congrats to all the kids who entered the constellation contest! Prizes were given out on Friday night and will be brought to your classroom also.

Yes, wow! Thank you Cornell Community!

Wednesday, February 1st is our 100th day of school, and we’ll continue counting the donations until Friday at 6:30pm. Join us this Friday at 6:30 in the MPR when we celebrate with cake and announce our final tally. If we have 30 more donations of $100, we will have raised $25,000 for our school. Huge thanks to those who have stretched beyond the $100 amount – it is appreciated! Remember – no raffle tickets to sell, no cakes to bake….just a check made out to Cornell PTA, dropped in the office safe, or an online donation right here.

Wednesday will also be the last day for kids to submit their answers to name as many constellations as they can, from the ones outside the Principal’s office. (Info sent home on this from the yellow flyers on Friday, 1/27 – extras in the office). Small prizes to all who participate, and a drawing for the child/children who identify the most. The winner(s) will receive a book about the night sky.

Hundrathon Update Day #92

As of Friday January 20th, 45 donors have generously given $6500 – thank you Cornell Community!

The majority of the donations have been $100, however we have received larger amounts including donations for $200, $250, $300 a $1000 donation, all of which is really huge supporting our PTA programs.

Last year we gave approximately $20,000 to teacher and classroom support from our Hundrathon Funding, and we’d love to do that again. That funding gave $2000 per grade level for teachers to use for classroom supplies – along with additional funding to programs like PE, special education, noontime activities, and more. Teachers used that money for books, butterfly and insect habitats, globes, art materials, reading centers……and the list goes on. The funding we raise through this Hundrathon will allow the teachers to purchase materials for their grades, and the more we raise, the more they can spend.

Check out the constellations on the wall outside the Principal’s office – and see which ones you can name! The paper stars are up in the hallway also, listing many of the reasons our students love Cornell. Second Annual Hundrathon!

We are excited to launch our Second Annual “Hundrathon” Campaign, when we come together to support our wonderful school in celebration of the 100th day. This year, that day is Wednesday February 1st.

We need your help to reach our goal of raising $30,000 for vital programming here at Cornell.

We are asking each family to donate $100 per child by the 100th day of school. Here are just some of the things your donation will directly support:

Assemblies (budgeted at $4,400)
Classroom supplies ($6,650 already distributed during this 2011-2012 year)
Additional classroom supplies for 2011-2012 budgeted at $11,000
Teacher professional development
School site enhancements
5th grade graduation
Ice cream social and coffee gatherings
Year-end teacher appreciation lunch
And much, much more!

We listened to the concerns of parents who want a simple, time-efficient way to support the school. This is the PTA’s only major fundraiser for the year. We are counting on you to help us reach our goal. Your $100 donation takes just a few minutes of your time—with no raffle tickets to sell, no wrapping paper to hawk, and no cake to bake. There is no effort involved, other than writing a check or donating online.

We fully understand that not every family is in a position to donate at this level. Any amount is deeply appreciated. All donations are strictly confidential.

Fun tidbits to know about Cornell’s Hundrathon:

Your child brought home a packet containing:

a campaign button, please wear it to help us raise awareness about this effort.
a paper star for your child to decorate. The stars will be placed on the school windows.

For each child’s family that participates, we will add a sparkly wooden star. We will be adding large and small stars, one per donation.
You can keep updated on the progress towards our goal by watching the phases of the moon outside of Principal Holmes’ office.

Return the packet envelope with your tax-deductable donation it to your child’s teacher or drop it off in the office, in the PTA safe. Please do so prior to Friday, February 4th, and include your name and address and your child’s name so that we can send a receipt for tax purposes.

Please consider a donation of $100 to Cornell by the 100th day of school – it’s only one dollar a day.

Don’t forget, everyone is invited to come celebrate with cake and refreshments on Friday, February 4th at 6:30pm!

Albany Elementary Giving Campaign Hits Goal!

WE DID IT!!!

On behalf of the Albany Elementary Giving Campaign committee, we wish to thank all our wonderful parents, teachers and staff, and SchoolCARE in supporting this important fundraiser.

As a result of our coordinated and collective effort, we have reached our goal and have raised $75K – which means our students at ALL three schools will have art, music, chess, poetry, and puberty education this year.

This is a true testament of the strength of our community to work together to support our children’s education.
